Design thinking is an ever-expanding set of methods and mindsets for problem finding, framing, and solving. It keeps people at the center - always. It means less arguing assumptions and opinions and more actionable insights. It's about finding pain and addressing it. It's about finding joy and magnifying it. It's about people. Thriving.
As design practitioners with over a decade of experience, we stay on the growth edge of the field. We say “beyond design thinking” because we know that “design thinking” is what many people hear about and seek out, and within the field things have moved “beyond” just design thinking. At this point, it’s design abilities, creative confidence, equity-centered community design, community design, and other framings. Some practices are congruent across these and some are at odds. Some of that conflict really matters, especially when it comes to issues of bias, perpetuating harm, and equity, some of it is more superficial. We are here for all of it, and we have our take to share along the way. First, we bring you in, in a way that allows you to gain some footing and capacity within what may be a whole new field and approach to you.
Are you looking for thoughtful practices to find new approaches to problems in your space?
We'd love to introduce you to this field of practice, help you build your confidence to begin using it with our two-day experiential workshop. This workshop has been developed over the years to be highly effective and affordable.
The goals of the workshop include: developing familiarity with design thinking concepts and frameworks, building confidence using design thinking methods, and having fun.
Day One
Introduction to design thinking concepts
Introduction to design thinking methods
Experiential learning - custom challenge*
Day Two
Experiential learning - custom challenge*
We use our well-tested introduction presentation and exercises for the morning of day one. After lunch, we use a custom challenge* that is relevant to your group, with the right level of stakes and scope. On day two, we turn your group into design teams who then approach a custom design challenge* through a hybrid design thinking and agile process. Teams work throughout the day in a self-directed manner with support and guidance as needed to effectively use the new design thinking methods that they are introduced to.
*Custom challenges are chosen through consultation with us previous to the workshop.
